His legs are so weak he can barely keep himself upright.  The jersey on his back is tattered and the colour of he earth that he had slept on last night.  His dull eyes reflects his despair.

The parched lips open and his hands come together in a pleading gesture.  ‘Ma’am, can I please have something to eat?’  Homeless, jobless, futureless – almost lifeless…

And I wonder:  what went wrong in his life?  Where is the blanket of love and comfort that is family?  Who, apart from himself, had failed him in his life?  Every time one of them walk away with a parcel of hot food in his hands I look at him and realize – there, but for the Grace of God, go I!

It makes me realise that I have a luxurious life of love and togetherness and appreciation with my family and I cherish it every day.

So, guess what my layout for this week is about?  FAMILY of course 🙂

The chandelier paper is from FabScraps and I teamed it up with a bit of 7Gypsy for little booklets.  A piece of craft lace border from Papercraft 4 You sits pretty above a flower border stamped onto each booklet.  I used a different lace design to tape down the faux file book on the right page of the layout.

The chipboard embellishments was painted with golden paint and distressed with dark brown cat’s eye ink.  A bit of teal dry-brushing sets the title off beautifully against the dark background.

Add a few brads, twine and film negatives and ta-da, layout finished!

Let’s acknowledge our blessings and be grateful for even the small little things in life while we are privileged to have them.
