Ladies, get ready to stretch your creativity to a whole new level – we are going on a gypsy journey!

Melani de Groot and Tanya Theron of Paper Crazy wholesalers will lead us on this journey with beautiful 7 Gypsies products.  The theme for the weekend is ‘Document your Journey through Life’ and be warned:  we are going to dig deep!

Gypsy accommodation 4-7 March 2010

Accommodation will be in our cabin in the foothills of the Drakensberg with the magnificent environment as inspiration.  Expect to see vivid red river lilies, grass dancing in the wind over the undulating landscape and more stars than you ever knew existed.  This time of year it is likely that the mist will roll in over the escarpment and we can huddle snugly in front of the fireplace with the gurgling sound of water flowing beneath the cabin as background music…

We will leave on 4 March at 13h00 and return on the morning of 7 March with our roaming gypsy souls satisfied (ok – for the moment).  Experienced drivers will ferry the gypsies to their destination, which is about 3 hours away.  The cost is R1 000 (all inclusive) with a R500 deposit payable on booking and the balance before 25 February.

Melani will put together a list of paraphernalia to take along as well as specific photos to collect beforehand.  The list as well as a link to Melani’s blog (to view a few teasers) will be posted soon.

Every gypsy needs a bit of information before departing on a journey.  What to take along, what to wear, what to expect?  Power at the cabin is eco-friendly with sun panels and a wind generator, so hair driers are useless.  The fridge, stove and geyser operate on gas and we light candles and lamps at night.  The weather is unpredictable and you should be prepared for normal autumn weather but bring along a warm jacket (temperatures drop easily below 10 degrees when the mist rolls in).  Comfortable hiking shoes is a must as we will be walking to sightseeing spots.

There is no cell reception at the cabin (we have to drive to a vantage point for reception) and we will let the stay-at-home gypsies know that we are safe just before turning off the main road onto the farm road with 4km left to the cabin.
