Sometimes all it takes to feel alive and vibrant again is a change to my normal routine.

Not alive like waking up and going about my everyday business – ALIVE like looking at the world with new eyes, actually seeing, feeling, taking in what is happening around me.  And then appreciating what I see and experience and ultimately what I have.

Our fairytale trip to the Drakensberg in the snow was such a change for me.  My ‘normal’ routine is quite set and I do what I have to do on certain days and get a lot done every week.  Exciting?  No.  Boring?  Sometimes.  Just the everyday life of an everyday woman.  But what I have learnt from our snow trip is that everything in life needn’t be in a box.  Everything doesn’t have to fit into a specific time slot.  Nothing will happen if sometimes I jump out of the box and do the extraordinary just because the opportunity presents itself.

This week I jumped out of the box with my layout and pulled together stuff from various designers (not an extraordinary thing to do, but it is not what I usually do 😉 ) to create my scrapbook layout.

The background paper is from Kaiserkraft and the frames were covered with ‘Marco’ from the 7Gypsies Venice range.  The title is actually the cover of a booklet that tells our fairy tale.  On the back of the cover is a picture of our cabin in the snow.  The cover is fastened with a 7Gypsies elastic around a Making Memories brad and it runs through eyelets to the back of the layout.

I love how the tags came out!  It is the first time that I’ve used Kraft Glassine from tim Holtz.  It feels like wax paper, but is not.  Colour won’t take on it unless you crumple it first so that the colour can settle in the ‘cracks’.  So I crumpled away and then sprayed the tags with Perfect Pearls Mist.

The sticker strips are from Basic Grey and fits in with the colours and theme of my scrapbook layout as if it was made for it!

Then there’s some more Tim Holtz in the form of his clear Fragments which are essentially clear tiles that you can stick onto patterned paper or a collage and then use as embellishments.  Clever Tim Holtz!

I adhered my tiles to portions of 7Gypsies ‘Coeur’ from their Lille range and I also used a Bingo card under some of the tiles.  Love it!

Life is good friends, let’s celebrate it every day in everything we do.  See you on Saturday when we scrap together again.
