is what I experience at our cottage in the Drakensberg. No cell reception (unless you climb to the top of the mountain), no Escom power, sweet water from the mountain stream, eagles floating on the hot air currents…
Saturday was a beautiful sunny day but it changed drastically in the space of a minute. One moment the sun was shining and the next moment the fog came rolling in over the escarpment. I barely had time to take two pictures before the fog enveloped us and the temperature dropped by ten degrees!
The fire for our braai was already lit so Frans darted in and out to get the meat done while I relaxed in front of the fireplace inside. Pure bliss! Moments like these make me realise that we really need to LIVE our lives fully and not just allow time to pass us by.
That brings me to our scrapbook layout for this week. One of Teresa Collins’ papers has a beautiful quote by Jawaharal Nehru on it: ‘We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.’ This quote inspired my layout in red, black and cream. I used tabs on various parts of the layout to symbolise the many adventures we can have during our lifetime.
The numbers rub-on is also from 7gypsies and I love the big numbers like ‘No 236474’ alluding to never-ending adventures. Inside the pocket on the left page are pictures and a bingo card that was created with part of an Enmarc rub-on on a piece of the printed Teresa Collins paper.
Torn gaffer tape with a measuring print on it from 7gypsies hold down a ‘book’ page on each of the background papers to allow for even more space for favourite pictures of someone’s adventures. The envelope at the top of the right page can be sealed with wax like I did mine or it can be left open with mementos or journaling sticking out of it.
Looking forward to scrapping with you on Tuesday 9/11 and Saturday 13/11 ladies. Happy scrapping till then!
